IPL 2026 Teams return as the season begins on March 28 and runs until May 31, two days later than the original March 26 schedule. Ten franchises will compete again across the league.
Team histories in the IPL look very different. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have dominated with multiple titles, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended an 18-year wait by winning their first trophy in 2025.
The contrast remains clear across the league. Gujarat Titans won the title in their debut season in 2022, yet long-standing teams like Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings are still chasing their first IPL trophy, with Lucknow Super Giants also searching for their maiden title.

Virat Kohli’s 8,661 runs make him the highest run-scorer for any single IPL franchise. Phil Salt scored 403 runs, and Josh Hazlewood took 22 wickets during the 2025 title season.
Their highest team total is 263/5, posted in 2013. Their lowest all-out is 49, recorded in 2017.

Sanju Samson joined CSK from Rajasthan Royals for ₹18 crore, while Ravindra Jadeja (₹14 crore) and Sam Curran (₹2.4 crore) moved to RR in one of IPL 2026’s biggest trades.

Ruturaj Gaikwad now leads the side in IPL 2026. Noor Ahmad’s 24 wickets from 2025 remain central to their bowling plan, with Khaleel Ahmed in support.
