ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 – Day 1 Highlights

England set a huge total batting first. They made 339 for 9. Captain Nat Sciver Brunt scored 122 off 105 with 13 fours and two sixes. Emma Lamb added 81 off 59. India started well with Uma Chetry scoring 45 and Jemimah Rodrigues making 66. India could not keep up and lost by 152 runs.

In Bengaluru India, A beat New Zealand by the DLS method after rain stopped play. Izzy Gaze made an unbeaten 101 off 100 to take New Zealand to 273 for 9. India A were 226 for 6 in 39.3 overs when rain came. Shafali Verma scored 70 off 49 and Mamatha Madiwala finished 56 not out to guide India A to the win under DLS.

Bangladesh took early wickets against South Africa and were in a strong position with the ball. Marufa Akter struck early and South Africa were 45 for 3 when rain forced the match to be called off.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan could not finish their game because of the rain. Sri Lanka were 33 for 1 when play was abandoned. Captain Chamari Athapaththu was dismissed before the weather stopped the match.
